JOB PROFILE
Our clients track record in railways dates back to the early 1900s. Their technical engineering disciplines cover all aspects of railway systems (trackwork, signalling, telecommunications, rolling stock, operations, safety assurance systems, mechanical and electrical, traction power, ergonomics) and infrastructure (tunnels, bridges, earthworks, stations, intermodal depots, marshalling yards).

Working on a major R.M 4 billion rail project in Malaysia, the scope of the entire project encompasses engineering, procurement, project management and construction management. This role will specifically be working on 180km electrified double track project due for completion in 2012 with further scope anticipated with project developments.

JOB DESCRIPTION
In accordance with the company vision, mission, values and management disciplines perform all aspects of signaling design projects, including design, checking and validation in accordance with company and industry standards.

ACCOUNTABLITIES:

Design

Create & production, check designs in accordance with the customer and TMS requirements including:

  • Preparation and check of detailed Signalling Scheme Plans
  • Design and check Signalling Circuits in accordance with current and client signaling practice
  • Produce and check Signalling control Tables
  • Preparation and check of Processor Based Interlocking application data reflecting current and client signaling practice
  • Check detailed design documentation and specifications

Verifications

Verify the designs and data in accordance with the customer and company requirements, including:

  • Acting as an independent checker of Signalling Circuits plans and application data prepared by others
  • Participate and act as Senior Test Engineer for Factory Acceptance Testing and/or Site Testing of system and equipment

Staff Development

Assist the development of capability and knowledge in colleagues by taking a leadership role including:

  • Act as Design Team Leader for major projects
  • Manage/supervise design office personnel including recruitment interviews
  • Acting as a technical mentor for Graduate Engineers and/or IRSE Licensing Scheme

Continuous Improvement

Contribute to the development of the culture of continuous improvement including:

  • Assisting with the culture of the BSC initiatives
  • Using the bright ideas scheme to put forward ideas

Occupational Health & Safety

Contribute to a safe work environment including:

  • Ensuring all activities undertaken comply with applicable OH&S laws
  • Ensuring all activities comply with company OH&S policies and procedures
  • Ensuring all safety incidents are reported and followed up using company OH&S procedures

In accordance with the Delegation Matrix

Education/Qualifications

Electrical & Electronic Engineering qualifications or equivalent technical experience mandatory

Experience

Minimum of 5 years signaling experience essential
